Tutor Code of Conduct
Last updated: October 17, 2026 · Version 2.0 · Operated by EDUVIXA NIGERIA LTD
1. Why this Code exists
Learners and families — including children and their parents — trust EduVixa tutors with their time, their money and, often, their children. This Code sets the standard that every tutor on EduVixa agrees to meet. It is part of the tutor’s agreement with EDUVIXA NIGERIA LTD (“EduVixa”) alongside the Terms & Conditions and the Safeguarding Policy. Where this Code and another document differ, the stricter rule applies.
Tutors accept this Code when they submit their application, and again whenever we materially update it.
2. Honesty and identity
- Be exactly who your profile says you are. Teach every lesson yourself; never let someone else teach, or use your account, in your place.
- Give accurate information about your identity, qualifications, experience and availability, and keep it current. Don’t exaggerate results, ratings or credentials.
- Don’t use another person’s photo, name, certificates or reviews, and don’t ask or pay anyone for a review.
- Tell us promptly if anything in your application changes, including a change of country, name or payout details.
3. Professional standards
- Be prepared and punctual. Join on time, have your materials ready, and give as much notice as possible if you must cancel. Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may lead to restrictions.
- Teach what you promised, at a level suited to the learner, and give honest, constructive feedback.
- Be respectful and inclusive. Never discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, nationality or background. No bullying, harassment, humiliation or abusive language.
- Keep content appropriate. Choose materials suitable for the learner’s age. Avoid political campaigning, religious proselytising, adult material, or anything unlawful.
- Protect academic integrity. Help learners learn; don’t sit exams, write graded assignments, or complete work that the learner will submit as their own.
- Be sober and fit to teach. Don’t teach under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Use a suitable setting. Teach from a quiet, professional space with a neutral background, appropriately dressed, and with a reliable connection.
4. Keep everything on EduVixa
- Communicate with learners and guardians only through EduVixa’s messaging and lesson tools.
- Never share or request personal phone numbers, email addresses, social-media or messaging-app details, or home addresses, and never suggest moving to another platform.
- Take all payment for lessons through EduVixa. Don’t ask for tips, gifts, or off-platform payment, and don’t discount in exchange for leaving the Platform.
- If a learner or guardian contacts you elsewhere, don’t continue the conversation — reply that you can only communicate through EduVixa and tell us.
This rule protects learners, especially children, and protects you. Breaking it can lead to suspension or permanent removal, whether or not any payment was involved.
5. Working with children
These rules apply whenever the learner is under 18, and good practice applies to all learners.
Do
- Treat a child’s parent or guardian as your point of contact. Address messages about scheduling, progress and concerns to the guardian’s account.
- Be warm but professional and appropriate. Keep the lesson focused on learning.
- Welcome the guardian being present, and never discourage supervision.
- End the lesson, and report, if the child says or does something that worries you, if an adult appears to be harming the child, or if anyone behaves inappropriately.
- Follow a child’s lead if they ask to stop, take a break or leave.
Never
- Ask for, or accept, a child’s personal contact details, photographs, address, school or other private information.
- Contact a child directly outside EduVixa, meet a child in person through or because of EduVixa, or arrange to be alone with a child.
- Give or accept gifts, money or favours, or give a child special treatment or secrecy (“this is just between us”).
- Make sexual, suggestive, intimidating or demeaning comments, or share any inappropriate material.
- Touch, photograph or take screenshots of a child, or record a child, unless you have the guardian’s prior agreement and use EduVixa’s recording control. Never share or publish a child’s image or recording.
- Ask a child to keep a secret from their guardian.
6. Privacy and confidentiality
- Treat everything you learn about a learner or guardian as confidential and use it only to teach and to communicate about lessons on EduVixa.
- Recording. Record only through EduVixa’s recording control, only where recording is enabled, only after telling the learner or guardian, and, for a child, only with the guardian’s prior agreement. Don’t keep copies outside EduVixa and don’t share a recording with anyone.
- Don’t screenshot, photograph or secretly capture a lesson, and don’t store learners’ personal data on your own devices beyond what is needed for the lesson.
- Follow data protection law. If you suspect a data breach — for example, you lose a device with lesson information on it — tell us immediately at privacy@eduvixa.com.
7. Your duty to report
You must report any safeguarding concern immediately and within 24 hours through the Report tool, Support or safeguarding@eduvixa.com. This includes concerns about another tutor, a learner’s welfare, a guardian’s conduct, or your own behaviour that may have crossed a boundary. If a child is in immediate danger, call 112 first.
You must also tell us promptly if you are charged with or convicted of an offence involving children, violence, sexual misconduct or dishonesty, or if a professional body or regulator opens an investigation into your conduct. You will not be penalised for reporting in good faith.
8. Money and fairness
- Set your own prices honestly and show them clearly; don’t add hidden charges.
- Don’t misuse promo codes, referrals, trial offers or the refund and dispute processes.
- Co-operate fairly with disputes and investigations, and give us accurate information.
- You are responsible for your own taxes and for any licences or permissions you need to teach.
9. If this Code is breached
We take breaches seriously and respond in proportion. Depending on severity, we may: give guidance or a formal warning; limit or hide a profile; suspend an account; pause or withhold payouts as permitted by the Terms; remove a tutor permanently and bar them from re-registering; and report conduct to the police, regulators or other authorities. A serious safeguarding breach, off-platform contact with a child, or dishonesty about identity can lead to immediate removal without prior warning. You can respond to or appeal a decision by writing to support@eduvixa.com, though a safety restriction may stay in place while we review.
10. Your agreement
By submitting your tutor application, you confirm that you have read and understood this Code and the Safeguarding Policy, that you will follow them, and that you understand a breach may lead to removal and, where appropriate, referral to the authorities.
